The Best Water Bottles: Under Armour
I do my best to drink as little bottled water as possible, which means I carry around a refillable bottle all the time. For a long time, I carried the Kor One. It’s still the sexiest water bottle (you’d swear Zaha Hadid designed it). But it has one crucial design flaw, which revealed itself to me as a stream of liquid rolling down my leg as I was racing to my gate from the AAdmirals Club in JFK: It’s missing a lid lock.
I love the one-handed operation, and it was never a problem, until that fateful morning. What I needed was a one-handed flip-top water bottle, with a locking mechanism to keep it securely closed when it’s in my backpack. My Solution: The Under Armour Beyond 18 Ounce Vacuum Insulated Stainless Steel Bottle with Flip Top Lid. It’s not quite as sophisticated looking as the Kor One, but it has a little flip up lock to keep it from accidentally opening in your backpack and making it look like you peed your pants waiting to board your flight. And it’s made by Thermos, so it will keep your cold colder and your hot hotter longer. It also comes in a 24-ounce “Dominate” model, and a less-expensive Tritan (=plastic) 22- and 24-ounce model. Purchase it on Amazon for about $28.
