TSA Expands PreCheck to 35 Airports

PrecheckI flew home from Miami on Monday, on the one daily AA flight to JFK that has a business class section that is sold as coach to AA elite frequent fliers.  I always feel super smart when I book this flight, but that feeling ended when I got to the security line and discovered a Trusted Traveler lane.  I knew that certain AA elites had been invited to join the PreCheck, the TSA Trusted Traveler program that provides expedited security clearance (no need to remove your shoes, light jackets, or your liquids or laptop from your carry-on.)  Turns out, as a member of Global Entry, I would have been eligible to use it, had I provided my Global Entry number in my reservation.  It's now part of my AAdvantage profile.  If you're not a member of Global Entry, now is the time to join.  It offers expedited Customs and Boarder Patrol clearance at selected airports (including Newark, where I waited a full hour for Marcio to clear standard customs and immigration on our last trip to Canada).  The cost is $100 for five years, and you can start your application here.  (P.S. American Express Platinum Card Holders get the $100 fee refunded!)
