The Truth about Cell Phones and Cancer

Cellphone Yesterday, the International Agency for Research on Cancer, a branch of the World Health Organization, declared that cellphones are "possibly carcinogenic to humans," adding them to a list of hazzards that includes lead, engine exhaust, pickled vegetables and styrofoam cups.  At this point, there's a lack of causative proof or reliable long term studies.  The incidence of brain cancer hasn't gone up in the last decade. But the possiblity is concerning, especially given how much more ubiquitous cell phones have become.  And like all environmental risks, the effects of cumulative exposure is particularly of concern to children.  Cell phone manufacturers were already hedging their liability bets by warning cosumers to keep the phones away from their bodies.  (You saw that when you read the manual, right?).  Bottom line: If you're overly cautious, start using an earpiece.  But here's an even better suggestion: Stop texting and using your phone while driving, biking or walking.  Those activities are unequivocally hazardous to your health.
