For the past two years, I've been limiting myself to one new item of clothing a month. The combination of small closets and a near-pathological reluctance to part with anything I liked enough to acquire in the first place have demanded that I slow the pace of my purchasing. It's a guideline that has served me really well — I only buy clothes that I really, really, really want. But I violated my rule this week at Nasty Pig. My friends David Lauterstein and Fred Kearny put their heart, soul and immeasurable talent into designing sportswear for men that is masculine, sexy, innovative, edgy, flattering and comfortable. No other brand that I wear (and I wear them all — from Dickies to Prada) fits me – literally and figuratively – as well. Their Nasty Pig Game Shorts and Nasty Pig 265 Hoodies are perfect for streetwear, club wear or lounge wear. I know they will sell out quickly, so bought one of each. That means no more new clothes 'til June. It was worth it.
