The Best Lobster in Provincetown: Townsend Seafood
I've spent the last week in Provincetown, Massachusetts, where I've been indulging in the enormous lobsters at Townsend Seafood. I'd like to point out that lobster is a low-fat, healthy source of protein (comparable to skinless chicken breast!), but the fact that I eat it smothered in melted butter pretty much lays waste to any nutritional claims. Still, It's delicious — and the meaty joys of a 3, 7 or 9-pound lobster are worth waiting for my summer visits to Massachusetts. Note that in a big lobster, even the flippers and legs have decent sized chunks of meat in them, and don't forget to pull open the body — the cartilage under the leg knuckles is home to some of the most succulent morsels in the lobster. (Check out this pictorial for more details on how
to eat a whole lobster) Townsend just reopened for the 4th of July, after a drawn out real estate drama. It's a little off the beaten path of Commercical Street, and not as scenic as The Lobster Pot, but if it's lobster you crave, don't bother eating anywhere else.
