The Best LIme Juice Substitute: True Lime Crystallized Juice
The only shopping experience I miss living in Manhattan are the giant suburban supermarkets. Whenever I travel, I find myself exploring the double-wide aisles of a suburban Stop & Shop or A&P*. It's amusing to my family and friends, not to mention the TSA agent who recently performed a secondary-screening of my grocery-laden roll-aboard at LAX. You simply can't find the same variety of flavors, sizes and brands in the Big Apple. One of my recent finds was True Lime, a crystallized powder that imparts the true flavor of a squeezed lime wedge. I love a little lime – especially in a specialty cocktail concoction, but find it hard to keep fresh limes around when I need them. And I hate the inevitable waste of the half lime left to dry out in the fridge. True Lime solves the problem, with zero calories, carbohydrates, no sweeteners, preservatives or sodium. Just the pure taste of 100% natural ingredients, primarily lime juice and lime oil. It's available in Lemon and Orange flavors — the orange tastes a little funny to me, though the lemon tastes great. Find it at your local market (turns out a couple here in Manhattan carry it), register online for a free sample, or buy it online at the True Lemon store.
* Did you hear Stop & Shop and A&P were merging? They're gonna call it Stop & P. (Sorry for the old tired joke — I just couldn't resist.)
