Cool Solar LED-Illuminated Address Numbers

Fewer things are more frustrating than trying to find a house number in the dark.  And while there are lots of cool house numbers, most are of little use at night if they’re not illuminated.  These solar-powered LED-illuminated numbers are visitor and eco-friendly.  At $19.99 per number, they get a little pricey if you have one of those five digit California house numbers, though if you have one of those, you can probably afford them anyway.  Order them from ThinkGeek.com.

Home depot sells solar powered LED lights on poles for illuminating gardens. Shel bought two for $20 to use as anchor lights on our sailboat. He adapted them by removing the poles that are used to stick them in the ground and the reflecting shades that aim the light toward the ground. I’ve seen boats with them strung all along the life lines. The bluish light actually looks very pretty.
These have replaced the traditional hanging kerosene powered anchor lights and the more common electric light at the top of the mast. It remains to be seen how well they hold up in bad weather.
