I came across this recipe in Gourmet magazine a few years ago,  and it has become my favorite Thanksgiving pie.  By layering pumpkin and pecan, it obviates the need to choose one over the other, or cut "just a sliver of each" for everyone at the table.  Find the recipe online at Epicurious.com.
