Philippe Stark Atomic Clock

Philippe Stark Atomic Clock

Philippestark_clock
I’m a big fan of Atomic Projection clocks, even though they don’t always work flawlessly, dependning on how clear they receive the Atomic Clock Time Signal from Ft. Collins, Colorado.  My clock here in LA only works if it’s at the very front edge of my nightstand.  Any closer to the wall, and the time and date get garbled.  Still, I love knowing the time is accurate (when it’s off, it’s so far off it’s obvious), and I love having the time projected on the ceiling at night.

If you’re into modernist design, the one to get is the Philippe Stark-designed model from Oregon Scientific. This one has an additional drawback: Its sensor for outdoor temperature and humidity needs to be protected from moisture and direct sunlight – restricting its usability. But boy, it will look stunning on your nightstand.  It sells for $225, but Neiman Marcus seems to have over-estimated the number they could sell, and they’ve  put it on Clearance Sale for $113.  Use code NMSALE for free shipping!
