The Best Toaster Oven: Cuisinart

Bruce and I fight over toasters.  He likes the classic slot-loading kind. I like toaster-ovens, mostly because I like to make cinnamon toast, and you just can’t do that well without a toaster-oven. Plus, I’m all about versatility and energy conservation, and having a small oven allows me to bake small things without heating up the whole kitchen, or bake a side dish while the main oven is otherwise engaged.  My choice: The Cuisinart TOB-165. It even has a convection fan to increase its efficiency in baking and roasting.  It’s currently  $136.64 at Amazon.com and you can save an additional $25 by using the code "BLOOMING" at checkout. As for the cinnamon toast, start by toasting 4 slices of Wonderbread. Evenly spread butter over one side (check out my recommended butter spreaders for this task), sprinkle with a mixture of cinnamon and sugar (I mix mine in a blender to grind the sugar and mix the two, and store in a sugar shaker) evenly to coat the bread. Then return it to the toaster-oven on a broil setting until bubbly. Repeat until everyone has settled into a euphoric sugar coma.
