The Best Source for Pet Medications
Update: Thanks to Lee at Captain Quahog, I discovered a new source today. Although I’ve never experienced the problems he mentions with 1-800-PetMeds, his recommendation, EntirelyPets has significantly lower prices on Frontline. I’m placing my order there today.
Original Post: There’s a lot to celebrate with spring in the air, but for pet owners, it also marks the beginning of flea and tick season. I put our Australian Shepherds on Frontline Plus, but there are a number of other options to discuss with your vet. No matter which product you settle on, the best place to buy it is 1-800-PetMeds. They offer great prices, great service and speedy shipping – free on orders over $39. For prescription medications, they’ll even call your vet for the prescription — or you can mail or fax it in. They also keep track of your prescriptions, and e-mail you a re-order reminder. So you can focus on the important things… like throwing the ball!
Hey Billy,
I have to disagree with you here. I was told by my Vet and others who have bought meds from “Pet Meds’ that they use batches of Meds from other countries that do not have the same quality or safety standards that we do here in the US and that many of their meds are also sold with expired expiration dates. I use Entirely Pets.com. I talked with them about the batch and expiration issues and they assured me they used only US standards.I have ordered many meds and suppliments from them in the past year or so and have been very happy.
I have no experience with Pet medications, other than we buy our pet rx’s from the ASPCA here in NYC which runs considerably cheaper than the private Vets. But I do know that in respect to human Rx’s from other countries ( I get mine from Canada ) the US government has been trying to curtail those purchases because they are so much cheaper than here in the US by claiming that they are produced in other countries with less rigid standards. I see this as a scare tactic, having myself bought meds over the years in Israel, Cyprus, France, the Netherlands, Mexico, etc. Who says India can’t produce equally good Rx’s as the US? I am very grateful that we have such high medical standards in this country, but I think this false superiority is driven more by the avaricious pharmaceutical companys, than by concern for our well being.
