Amé: The Non-Alcoholic Apéritif
I first discovered Amé on a Virgin Atlantic flight to London ten years ago, and I’ve been drinking it ever since. A unique blend of fruit juices and exotic herbal extracts such as Limeflower and gentian, it’s refreshing, light and not too sweet. Although it’s marketed as a wine alternative, in Red, White and Rosé versions, it’s really better over ice as an apéritif, and the white version is unquestionably the best. If you can’t find it locally, you can order it online for $5.99 from the Naturalgroup.net.
Have you purchased this in NYC? What store?
BKS: Whole foods has had it in the past.
When you don’t drink – and I don’t – you’re constantly on the lookout for something/anything that isn’t Coca Cola/Sprite/Ginger Ale. Ame fits the bill, great stuff.
Can you drink this if you are pregnant with the herbal extracts?
BKB: You’ll have to ask your doctor that question. I’m not a doctor (though I sometimes play one in the bedroom 😉
