The Best Use of AmEx Membership Rewards Miles

A list of other blogs that a blog author recommends is called a blogroll.  Wikipedia suggests that the origin of this word is connected to honor roll.  But spend a little time reading any community of mutually linked blogs, and you might come to believe, as I do, that the word derives from logrolling, which describes the practice of authors mutually praising each other’s work on their dust jacket quotes.  Yes, blogging is as insular and cliquish as any other community of expression.  Which is a long-winded introduction to today’s post.  Yesterday’s post came from my dear friend and former business partner, David Alport.  David helped our friend Rich Campbell spec out and design a new website for his company, Atlantis Events, some of which I will be rewriting.  We’re all connected, if not blogrolled.  At Simon/LA yesterday (unconnected, BTW), in the same lunch (delicious, BTW) that Rich asked me to do this work, he also imparted two mileage redemption strategies for American Express Membership Rewards that I now share with you.  Want to redeem AmEx points for travel on United?  Transfer them to Air Canada’s Aeroplan.  You can do it instantly and see real-time Saver Award availability online.  Want to redeem them on American?  Transfer to Mexicana’s Frequenta program, and redeem for AA tickets.
